An initiative by the Oceanic Society, which pioneers nature-based tourism globally in pursuit of a mission to improve ocean health, the Critter Scholars Program provides youth from disadvantaged communities in the Bay Area with the opportunity to partake in enriching wildlife experiences and interactions.⁠ Our support of the Critter Scholars Program, offers enriching wildlife experiences to teens from disadvantaged communities. At Koala Eco, we believe our connection to nature is a wonderful and precious thing, informing how we think and live and also how we care for each other and the planet. This belief is so fundamental to the Koala Eco ethos that we even apply it to our team’s work schedule, encouraging everyone to spend two hours in nature each week as part of their paid work week. The team intentionally sets aside time to do something connected to the natural world that feels particularly healing. It also complements our An Hour in Nature® Journal, which interviews inspiring people we believe genuinely embody a nature-focused lifestyle to showcase their practices and unique experiences.

Repurpose Global is an environmental group tackling the plastic crisis. Through certified plastic recovery projects worldwide, Repurpose Global ensures that for every amount of plastic a brand pledges to offset, an equivalent volume is removed from the environment. Their mission is to make businesses accountable for the plastic they generate while supporting local communities and creating systemic change in how plastic is managed.

Through our partnership with Repurpose Global, Koala Eco is now certified plastic neutral. This means every piece of plastic we put into the world is matched by an equal amount removed from the environment.
