What’s your favourite thing to do in nature?

I love the feeling of being immersed in nature. Simply observing its beauty and absorbing the peaceful energy.

Describe your connection to nature: what positives does it bring to your life?

Nature for me is medicine. No matter how erratic life may seem, being in nature brings me back to centre. In nature I feel calm and grounded, a sense of peace that assures everything is ok.

What are your fondest memories of spending time in nature?

As a child growing up in South Australia, nature has always been my backyard. Going to the beach and camping were our weekend activities and I loved it! Later on in life I travelled around Australia with my husband and four children. Having the opportunity to show our kids the contrasting beauty of Australia, from waterholes, to deserts, to coastlines, was so uniquely special.

Many of us are time-poor and might not get out into nature as much as we’d like. Any suggestions for a quick nature-based pick-me up? Something sensory, experiential…?

Wherever you are you can always step outside and look up at the sky, cloud watch, get lost in the shapes and colours. Even in a city you can find a park and say hello to some trees. If you’re lucky to have good sources of nature nearby then make time for it! Go for a wander on the beach or in the rainforest and notice how great you feel after.
