A sensory experience in every spray; learn about the ingredients in our natural surface cleaners

Representing the unity of age-old botanical wisdom and contemporary scientific research, our natural surface cleaners harness the benefits of some of nature’s most potent aromatic essential oils. We use aromatherapy-grade Australian essential oils, which is why Koala Eco can transform the traditional chore of cleaning into an uplifting ritual. Working to cleanse high-use surfaces and eliminate bacteria and odors, our surface cleaners boast antibacterial, and antiviral properties that keep your home clean without the need for toxic chemicals. We help you take care of yourself, the people you love and the places you live with our safe, powerful, plant-based household cleaning products.

How do our natural surface cleaners work?

Our natural surface cleaner range comprises four hardworking formulas designed to target every area of the home. There’s our Natural Multi-Purpose Kitchen Cleaner, Natural Multi-Purpose Bathroom Cleaner, Natural Glass Cleaner, as well as the highly concentrated version of our kitchen cleaner that houses three full-sized bottles in every refill.

Each of our natural surface cleaners features an easy-to-use spray applicator and works by combining pure essential oils with plant-based surfactants, solubilizers, alcohol, and acetic acid to create an efficacious formula that’s tough on stains, grease, grime, and odours while being safe (and enjoyable!) to breathe in by every member of the household.

Below, we break down every ingredient in our natural surface cleaners and explore how they contribute to creating an efficacious, non-toxic, biodegradable formula.

Surfactants

Surfactants — which means ‘surface active agent’ — help trap impurities and lift them off surfaces, making them an apt addition to many cleaning products.

The surfactants in our surface cleaners are derived from plant-based sources such as coconut and sugar. They are completely biodegradable, meaning they won’t contribute to environmental pollution once they’re washed down the drain.

Solubilizers

Solubilizers are a type of surfactant. As the name suggests, they’re water soluble and can disperse small concentrations of oils in water-based formulas. Their small molecular size allows them to evenly distribute the essential oils in our formulas, meaning that every spray of our surface cleaners contains an equal amount of essential oil. Solubizers allow the essential oils in our formulas to be distributed in minute particles, which results in a clear solution — thanks to solubilizers, Koala Eco spray cleaners don’t need to be shaken before use; they’re already ready to go!

Alcohol

Plant-based alcohol (derived from sugar) aids in disinfecting surfaces. Alcohol possesses germicidal properties and works to eliminate bacteria and microbes.

Acetic acid

The main constituent in vinegar, acetic acid, is a natural all-purpose cleaning agent. It helps to break down grease, dirt, and grime accumulated on surfaces and can also be used to eliminate hard water deposits on glassware and shower screens and rust stains on sinks.

Essential oils

The foundation of every Koala Eco product, pure essential oils are at the heart of all our formulas. With each of our cleaning sprays sitting at the intersection of household care and aromatherapy, our formulas guarantee a thorough clean while uplifting and invigorating the senses.

  • Lemon Myrtle: boasting fresh, evergreen notes along with the delicate, subtly sweet scent of lemon, this essential oil packs a powerful punch. Its antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties make it the hero ingredient in our Natural Multi-Purpose Kitchen Cleaner, working to deodorise surfaces and eliminate bacteria to promote a safe and healthy space.
  • Mandarin: joyful and uplifting; mandarin is a familiar scent in many Australian households. Evocative of a quiet sense of contentment and calm, mandarin boasts antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties, complementing the sweet, creamy scent of lemon myrtle in our Natural Multi-Purpose Kitchen Cleaner.
  • Eucalyptus: when it comes to feeling refreshed and invigorated, eucalyptus's minty and camphoraceous scent is unrivalled. Taking centre stage in our Natural Multi-Purpose Bathroom Cleaner, eucalyptus essential oils with our surfactants work to effectively and efficiently eradicate grime, dirt, and scum, while its antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic properties help keep your bathroom cleaner for longer. Laden with aromatherapeutic benefits, eucalyptus acts as a natural decongestant, clearing out your airways as you cleanse your space.
  • Peppermint: Like a sensory rebirth, peppermint is an invigorating and revitalising scent. Its antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and insect-repellent properties make it an apt fit for our Natural Glass Cleaner aiding in buffing surfaces clean and making them sparkle.
